The Brave Little Toaster (1987) Movie Description:

Originally a novel for children by Thomas M. Disch, The Brave Little Toaster was made into a movie by Disney Studios in 1987. This animated fantasy film was directed by Jerry Rees, who also wrote the screenplay.

Viewers will be reminded immediately of the “Homeward Bound” film, chronicling the adventures of lost pets trying to make their way back home through a series of both natural and predatory obstacles. In this film, several household appliances have been overlooked by their master and left in a summer cabin, and their attempt to find him and return home provides the delightful storyline.

The “characters” include: Sunbeam, a toaster who is the group’s leader, Lampy, a brilliant (illumination-wise) lamp, Blankie, a reticent electric blanket, a pretentious alarm clock/radio, and Kirby, a super-strong vacuum cleaner.

The Brave Little Toaster was a surprising box-office success, so much so that two sequels have been produced, The Brave Little Toaster Goes to Mars, and The Brave Little Toaster to the Rescue.
